Celebrate Moon Day

Moon Day commemorates the day man walked on the moon for the first time on July 20, 1969. The Apollo Space program, begun by President Kennedy, was created to put the first man on the moon. Apollo 11 carried astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin Aldrin, Jr. What an amazing and historic event it was!  On July 16, 1969, the rocket was launched and 4 days later, the Lunar Module, nicknamed the “Eagle”, touched down on the surface of the moon at Tranquility Base. Neil Armstrong reported, “The Eagle has landed!” A few hours later, when he stepped off the Eagle’s ladder he placed one foot upon the moon and exclaimed, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
